Frequently Asked Questions
There are multiple conditions that must be met for the ATO to allow for early access to super; however to begin with, you must satisfy the following; You are or have been a citizen or permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand.
On average, the process takes approximately 4 weeks. This can vary depending on the time it takes your Super Fund to release funds to you.
There are laws around accessing your super, and it is illegal for you to use the money you received for anything else. It will be flagged with the Australian Tax Office if you don't proceed once the Super is withdrawn. If you use the funds for something else you won't be able to access it a second time without producing receipts for medical treatment.
Super Health Co recommends talking to an independent financial adviser before you apply for early release of super. Once you have done that; Speak to our team even if you do not have a treatment plan. We can also assist in finding a local treating specialist that will support your application process.
